The Government of Ontario passed Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act, on November 28, 2022.
This Bill brought several changes to different Acts which included several changes to the Planning Act allowing Additional Dwelling Units on the same property.
Old Hickory Buildings
If a customer wants to convert an Old Hickory Building to a Tiny Home or an Additional Dwelling Unit, we can provide modified plans that state the roof, walls, and floor are adequate to support the required design loads for an occupied building, but that is the limit of our responsibility. It is the customer’s responsibility to do the due diligence with the local building department for the conversion.
